In competitive areas such as dance, stage or in music the individual often has just one chance for 2 minutes or so to perform just as required to secure success or yet another knock back. However, if the candidate is prepared, focused, calm and on-point then there is every chance of success. This ideal performance state is achieveable with the correct strategies, practice and mindset and links perfectly with your physical, purposeful and technical states. The harmony and flow delivers not only results but enjoyment in everything that you do whether training, practice or going out on the stage. Stagefright, performance anxiety fear and choking will be a thing of the past as you will be in control of your mind, emotions and body. Dancers will improve performance as they become better prepared; have the ability to bounce back; experience less injuries through tense muscles and just start to enjoy their craft with passion. Singers and actors enjoy clearer minds and can ensure that anxiety stays as butterflies and excitement as opposed to debilitating nerves that restrict your voice, memory or movement. You are no different than an elite athlete who trains all their life and have to perform for maybe only 2 minutes, not having control of your thoughts, emotions, actions and behaviours is terribly sad and totally your responsibility. 

Psychology for performance in the professions is a blend of personal and corporate mental psychology. If you consider the performance level of an aircraft pilot who has responsibility for 300 people and maybe an aircraft costing millions of pounds, then it is easy to see that they must be calm and in control of their emotions, clear thinking with an uncluttered mind, total self-belief in their ability to transport everybody to their destination safely and the mental strength to deal with errors, emergencies and changes not expected. The same would apply to surgeons who have someone's life in their hands. They need total concentration, self awareness and the ability to perform within a team that matches their technical skill and often physical endurance. In all the professions there are a unique set of issues that can be detrimental to performance but we find that a well trained mind that has the ability to handle psychological performance, joined with a healthy well nourished body puts the professional into a great place that can be enhanced even more by developing deeper levels of talent through deliberate and deep practice not often pursued after qualification.
